48 hours ago we were in sunny northern California where the temperature was close to 80 degrees. But winter has arrived early in Chicago so tonight I made Italian wedding soup featuring baked chicken meatballs. You can grab the recipe here. Overall, some nice flavors and I really liked the dill. I do think it could have benefited from some pesto or a significant amount of garlic. The meatballs were the real stars. The recipe called for a mix of ground chicken breast and chicken sausage so I used Italian chicken sausage.
The pre-dinner cocktail? The Conference (from the recently released Death & Co. cocktail book), which called for bourbon, rye, calvados and cognac. A boozy (but balanced) and quirky take on an old fashioned. I'll be pairing it with an album soon.
And dessert? Hot chocolate.
