I don’t love whiskey sours. There, I said it. But I do have exceptions to my own rules, such as when I’m sick and I want all the elements of a whiskey sour but hot. The Hot Toddy is merely cough syrup for adults.
2 oz. bourbon (I recommend something 100 proof — I almost always suggest using 100 proof bourbon for cocktails)
1 tablespoon honey
Half a lemon squeezed
Herbal honey bitters (optional)
In a heatproof glass add bourbon, honey, lemon and bitters, if using, and top with boiling water. Stir. Garnish with a lemon wheel if you want to feel classy.
