Maine maple old fashioned
- 2 oz. bourbon
- .25 oz Maine maple syrup (Sure, any maple syrup would work, but when in Maine...)
- A few dashes of Angostura bitters
Combine bourbon, maple syrup and bitters in an old fashioned glass. Add ice. Stir. Add a few more ice cubes. Squeeze an orange peel over the glass and garnish. Enjoy.
Three weeks ago tomorrow we arrived in Maine for our next adventure. Tonight I'm sitting up in Camden, ME, having a maple old fashioned at Timbercliffe Cottage B&B aka my home away from home aka my parents' house. This cocktail tastes like fall and is kinda perfect.
I've been coming up to Camden, ME, for exactly 10 years (and to Maine for more than 30 years, probably closer to 35). When my parents moved to Maine in 2005 I never anticipated that I would have found my way out here as well. It's great to have my mom and dad closer. Being able to spend time with them is important and I am forever grateful for the opportunities that were opened for Sara and me to be able to live and work in Maine.
